Basement Waterproofing in Greater Buffalo and Western NY
Water can easily seep into your basement through foundation walls, cracks, and floors. Basements are made up of porous concrete, blocks, or stone, all of which allow moisture to leak into your basement. Water in the soil around the foundation penetrates through the foundation walls and into your basement.
Over the years, contractors and engineers have developed a wide variety of methods to keep basements dry. Some of these methods are more effective than others. With our years of experience, Frank's Basement Systems has found the right solution to fix your wet basement and keep it dry all the time. Installing the Basement Systems patented WaterGuard drainage system is the most effective approach to keeping your basement dry all the time.
Frank's Basement Systems can fix your wet basement in areas surrounding Buffalo and WNY, including Niagara Falls, Lockport, North Tonawanda, Amherst, Cheektowaga, and West Seneca, NY.
Other ways to fix a wet basement:
- Exterior Excavation
- Interior Subfloor
- Interior Baseboard System
- Negative-side Sealant
Exterior excavation requires that the ground around your foundation be dug up and then a drainage system is installed. This is an expensive solution that causes disruption to your landscaping and driveway. Negative-side Sealants only provide short-term fixes. This method involves applying a waterproof coating on your basement walls. This method does not address the water building up outside of your foundation.
A good solution is to install an interior subfloor drainage system or a baseboard drainage system along the perimeter of the floor. A french drain is an example of this method. There are a few challenges to this method however. One is to keep the drain from being clogged by mud over the years. Many homeowners go years without a water problem and then develop one due to the existing sub-floor and sub-surface drains clogging with mud. Another challenge for subfloor systems is to set up the system to accept water from the walls without leaving a large unsightly gap at the edge of the floor which can collect dirt and debris from the floor - another potential for clogging the drain.
The best solution is the WaterGuard Drainage System, which is an interior subfloor drainage system similar to the method noted above, but without all the problems. This system does not clog and it collects water from both the basement walls and floors.
