Taking A Peek Behind
Those small squares helped shed light on exactly what was happening behind the drywall! Each helped Matthew find precisely where the crack was and just how far it had spread without him ever knowing.
What Was Really Hiding
When you got up close and personal, those little windows really showed you what was happening. This wasn't just a hairline crack, even though it may have been small on the surface, but it ran deep into the wall.
Fully Exposed
It was out with the damaged drywall to see what was really happening. The crack hiding behind it in Matthew's basement wall was anything but small!
Prepping The Crack
Before the crew could start the repair, they needed to prepare the area first! That meant removing a portion of the floor below the crack and chipping out the crack itself.
Patching It Up
Once everything was ready, it was time to bring in the Xypex system! This hydraulic-like cement works to stop water flow in its tracks while sealing the crack completely.
Adding Protection
Over the repaired crack, we added a panel of our BrightWall! This effective moisture and vapor barrier stops any water from continuing to get through and instead pushes any water seepage straight down to the drainage system below.
New Drainage Below
In that floor cut-out, a small strip of the WaterGuard drainage system was added. This system features a wall flange that captures any water that enters it and seamlessly connects it to Matthews's home's current drainage system.
Sealing It All In
Once each piece is in place, it's time to seal it all in! We concreted over the WaterGuard drainage system, making it nearly invisible, and will let Matthew refinish this section of his basement.
