Support Systems In Place
Originally, in the space, there were wooden supports connected to the joists above, but the base was attached to stacked cinder blocks. Due to the dampness in the space over time, these wood supports will begin to deteriorate, rot, and mold, leading to their failure as a support.

The Crawlspace Before
Below the areas with issues was a crawlspace that was accumulating water and snow throughout the winter. This led to moisture affecting the floors above, as well as the joists and supports in the crawl space.

SmartJack® Crawl Space Stabilizers
These are galvanized steel piers that are cut to size to fit the space and won't rust or deteriorate over time. These posts rest on a precast concrete pad that will then have a threaded post cap installed at the top and secured to the joists above. With the threaded cap, our Team can raise the jack in time if things in the home ever shift.

CleanSpace® Drainage Mat
The first step in the encapsulation process was to cover the ground in the crawl space with CleanSpace® Drainage Mat System. This simple mat will make sure water doesn't collect and flows through the channels in the system. The water will be captured and moved to the drain system and sump pump so it doesn't begin to pool under the liner.

CleanSpace® Vapor Barrier
On top of the drainage mat system, this thick and durable, white plastic liner, which resembles a pool liner, is installed. This liner will prevent moisture from entering the crawlspace and keep our debris and pests as well. Plus, when winter rolls around, it will seal out the cold weather!

SmartSump™ Crawl Space Sump Pump
This sump pump system is specifically designed for crawl spaces to help reduce moisture, remove water, and prevent flooding. Plus, this sump pump's lid is designed to work specifically with the CleanSpace liner to create an airtight seal.

SaniDry™ Sedona Dehumidifier
The sump pump lid had a built-in area that you can use to connect a dehumidifier hose, where we installed a SaniDry™ Sedona Dehumidifier. This small but mighty machine is a crawl space dehumidifier and air filtration system, making it the perfect final piece to this crawl space project.
