The Previous Dehumidifier
To control the moisture in this space, the owner installed a dehumidifier. This did help a bit, but it wasn't able to keep up with the size of the basement.

The Previous Insulation
The current insulation in the basement was ineffective in keeping the walls warm and preventing condensation buildup, and instead began to absorb that moisture. Over time, mold began to grow, and the insulation started to deteriorate.

Foamax® Basement Wall Insulation
To replace the old insulation, we installed Foamax Wall Insulation. Cold basement walls can create condensation in the summer, which can lead to water in the basement. The outside of the Foamax is a white foil that not only brightens up the space but also creates a vapor barrier to help with humidity control in the basement.

SaniDry™ Sedona Dehumidifier
To address moisture in the space and remove it, a SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier was installed. This compact and powerful dehumidifier helps prevent mold growth, keeps musty odors away, and reduces dust mites. Since humidity is a primary factor in mold development in basements, this was a necessary addition.

Updated Sump Pump
The SaniDri system can be connected to the sump for easy water drainage. With more moisture being pushed to the sump pump, an upgraded submersible pump system was installed within the existing liner in this home. The upgraded pump will help keep up with the increased water flow into the system, preventing the pump from being overloaded and flooding the basement.
