Building Stronger Foundations for Homes and Communties in Rochester, NY

Something new and exciting is taking root in Rochester, NY! Frank's Basement Systems is thrilled to announce that we will be working more in partnership with Foodlink. 

This organization goes far beyond food access to create real, lasting change in the surrounding communities. From food access programs to food literacy programs to career empowerment, Foodlink is building a stronger Rochester by working to “shorten the line” through upstream approaches to address food insecurity. 

To kick off our partnership, we gave our Rochester Design Specialist a challenge in May! The more they sold, the more we could donate. And this team worked hard all May to help us raise a total of $2,500!

Several members of our team here at Frank’s Basement Systems were able to go tour Foodlink before we donated as well. They saw the huge facility that the amazing team runs each day to support mobile food pantries, pop-up markets, and other programs that ensure Rochester and the surrounding communities have access to food, even for those with limited access to traditional food pantries. But their work doesn’t just stop there, as they have a career fellowship program, a community cafe, and nutrition education programs.

But what really blew our team away was the Foodlink Community Farm. This urban farm is not too far away from where our very first office in Rochester was; it is a 1.6-acre urban agriculture campus. It’s home to a large community garden for many resettled refugees, a commercial growing operation, and a public pocket park and play area. Seeing the area where Frank’s Basement Systems used to call home base grow and flourish was spectacular to see.

Our team is so thankful for this opportunity, and we can’t wait to explore new partnerships and adventures with the team at Foodlink!
