In some parts of John's basement, a pretty fun design was starting to form on the floor. And no, it's not from paint that spilled and dried, but from something called efflorescence! It's all the minerals left behind after water dries up.

The sump pump down in John's basement was wide open to the elements! This meant dirt, debris, or even little basement critters could get in and cause trouble for the system that pushes water up and out of the basement.
